Cobar is a rural mining community located in far western New South Wales. Our shire is one of the largest in the state, spanning over 44,000 square kilometres.

The Director Engineering Services at Cobar Shire Council works closely and co-operatively with the General Manager, Management Executive team and Council to review, plan and deliver a broad range of projects and key services for the organisation and the community, including roads, water and sewer, workshop and urban services.

Council is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and technically skilled Engineer with a passion to drive excellent performance and provide dynamic, collaborative leadership and direction for the engineering department. This position is responsible for building and managing a range of multi-disciplined teams to ensure that Council’s Strategic Plans and objectives are achieved.

Our preferred candidate will have a ‘can-do, lead by example’ attitude, a strong community focus and extensive experience in senior executive management, leading organisational change, providing customer focused services and delivering results.

This role provides an exciting opportunity with the responsibility for providing professional engineering advice and support to Council and senior management along with contributing to team member development through mentoring and the provision of technical leadership.

As this is a Senior Staff position, an attractive total remuneration package, including salary, superannuation, subsidised housing and leaseback vehicle will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
