Home Care and Social SupportContact DetailsName: Deanne Schaefer DescriptionCobar Home Care Service is one of a number of Home and Community Care (HACC) providers subsidised by the Australian and NSW Governments to help the frail aged, younger people with a disability, and their carers to live independently in their own homes and continue to enjoy the benefits of living within the community. Home Care employs Care Workers who provide services including respite, domestic assistance, personal care and respite services. The social support program utilises volunteers to assist meeting a person's need for social contact and participation in community life. Cobar's Service Coordinator, Deanne Schaefer, can assist with Social Support and Home Care services. Transport and Food ServiceContact DetailsName: Kyli Davis DescriptionAgeing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) delivers services that provide older people, people with a disability and carers with opportunities to participate in community life. Community Transport provides access to the community and its facilities via use of a local contracted provider (Taxi). Community Transport also provides regular Health Related Transport for medical appointments in Bourke, Nyngan and Dubbo. Cobar Food Service is a member of the national Meals on Wheels organisation. This service provides clients with fresh meals delivered to their door three times a week by our dedicated volunteers. Frozen meals are also available for your convenience. Cobar's Service Coordinator, Kyli Davis, can provide assistance with community transport and meals on wheels. People looking for the experience to volunteer in Cobar are encouraged to contact the Cobar Home Care office. No referrals are required and the initiative is a free service. Opening Hours - Monday-Friday: 8.30am to 4.30pm; Saturday-Sunday: closed. A male psychologist visits the office every second Monday. A female psychologist visits on the second Tuesday of the month, the third Thursday of the month and the fourth Tuesday of the month. A drug and alcohol counsellor visits every second Thursday. An Aboriginal Health Worker can be engaged to provide family support through house visits. General counselling is also available from Katrina during normal office hours.

Generalist CounsellorThe Generalist Counsellor provides services for relationship problems; stress management; financial matters; drug and alcohol; counselling for depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, aged mental health and other common mental health issues. The hospital was established in 1968 and is an 'Acute-Care' Hospital. In conjunction withthe NSW Ambulance Service, provisions of both road and aerial ambulances are used for inter-hospital patient transfer. The Cobar Health Service has a courier service that provides a return service to Dubbo three (3) days per week, which can be utilised by those requiring medical attention in Dubbo. Specialist facilities are available on a visiting basis. Similar specialist services are available in Dubbo on a full time basis. The walking group will be held at Ward Oval during the months of April to October, with the help of volunteer walk organiser, Bernie Martin on Wednesdays at 4.00pm. The Heart Foundation walking group is also introducing walking with poles for those who like to try them. It's like cross country skiing without the snow and gives an upper and lower body workout. It's free, fun and for anyone of any age or level of fitness.
