The theme for the 2018 Australia Day Celebrations is "Everyone, Every Story".

Australia Day is an opportunity for communities to come together in the spirit of friendship and harmony, showcasing the unique and diverse culture that makes us Australian.

This Australia Day, we want to show the world how Cobar celebrates our nation's favourite day.

While Australia Day means different things to different people, it is a day that welcomes everyone to reflect on their Australian experience - their past, present and future. "Australi Day - Everyone, every story" showcases these personal snapshots to celebrate all the stories that make our country great. 

The categories for the 2018 Australia Day Awards are: Sports Person Award, Services to Sport Award, Community Event of the Year, Bossie Mitchell Service to the Community Award, Kerrigundi Award, Citizen Award and Young Citizen Award.

The Sports Person of the Year Award is awarded to a person or persons who have excelled in sport in the Cobar district communities, particularly in the past twelve months.

The Services to Sport Award is awarded to a person or persons who have shown dedication to sport in the Cobar district communities, particularly in the past twelve months.

The Community Event of the Year Award is awarded to an event which has demonstrated excellence in the Cobar District Communities on a voluntary basis, particularly in the past twelve months.

The Bossie Mitchell Services to the Community Award is awarded to a person or persons who have made a significant contribution to the Cobar district community on a voluntary basis.

The Kerrigundi Award is awarded to a person or persons up to the age of 24 years who has excelled in sport at a level where they have represented the Cobar district or have been chosen to participate outside the Cobar district.

The Citizen of the Year Award is awarded to a person or persons who have had significant acheivements on a voluntary basis in the Cobar district communities, particulary in the past twelve months.

The Young Citizen of the Year Award is awarded to a person or persons (up to the age of 24 years) who has had significant acheivements on a voluntary basis in the Cobar district communities, particulary in the past twelve months.
