Australia Day 2026 Award Winners

The Sports Person of the Year Award is awarded to a person or persons who have excelled in sport in the Cobar district communities, particularly in the past twelve months. 

Winner: Ethan McLeod

The Services to Sport Award is awarded to a person or persons who have shown dedication to sport in the Cobar district communities, particularly in the past twelve months.

Winner: Sherrin Wharton

The Community Event of the Year Award is awarded to an event which has demonstrated excellence in the Cobar District Communities on a voluntary basis, particularly in the past twelve months.

Winner: Senior Sand Green's Championships

The Bossie Mitchell Services to the Community Award is awarded to a person or persons who have made a significant contribution to the Cobar district community on a voluntary basis.

Winner: Sharon Harland

The Kerrigundi Award is awarded to a person or persons up to the age of 24 years who has excelled in sport at a level where they have represented the Cobar district or have been chosen to participate outside the Cobar district.

Winner: Pearl Blackburn

The Citizen of the Year Award is awarded to a person or persons who have had significant acheivements on a voluntary basis in the Cobar district communities, particulary in the past twelve months.

Winner: Colby Lawrence

The Young Citizen of the Year Award is awarded to a person or persons (up to the age of 24 years) who has had significant acheivements on a voluntary basis in the Cobar district communities, particulary in the past twelve months.

Winner: Katie Nicholson

The Environmental and Sustainability Award is awarded to a person or group who has achieved outstanding environment sustainability outcomes in the Cobar Shire area.
