Cobar Shire Council secured funding through the NSW Government’s Resources for Regions program to replace the ageing Booberoi Road and Round Hill Road bridges near Euabalong. Both bridges had reached the end of their operational life and were subject to a 3-tonne load limit, significantly restricting access for heavy vehicles, agricultural machinery and freight transport.

The load restrictions resulted in lengthy detours for residents, primary producers and service providers, impacting transport efficiency and increasing travel times throughout the district. The project was developed to restore reliable access across these important rural transport routes and support the continued growth and productivity of the region.

The project included geotechnical investigations, detailed bridge and hydraulic design, construction of new bridge structures, road approach works, sealing and asphalting, and site rehabilitation.

The completed bridges have restored safe and reliable access for local residents, agricultural operators, freight vehicles and emergency services. By replacing critical infrastructure that had exceeded its service life, the project has improved connectivity, strengthened the resilience of the local road network and reduced travel distances for road users across the region.
