Computers and Internet

Public access computers and wifi are available for use by library members and visitors, and assistance is provided with printing and scanning. Charges may apply. Please contact Library staff for more information.

Printing, Faxing and Scanning

Public printing, faxing and scanning facilities are available for use by library members and visitors, and assistance is provided for all services. Charges may apply. Please contact Library staff for more information.

Reservations and Inter-library Loans

If you require a particular title that is out on loan, you are welcome to reserve the title. When the item is returned, it will be placed on hold  and staff will contact you. If the title that you require is not available at the library, you can request an inter-library loan from another library. Charges may apply. Please contact Library staff for more information.

Housebound Services

If you are unable to visit the library due to ill health, lack of mobility or other restrictions (e.g. full-time carer), we can deliver your library loans to you at home. This is a FREE service. Please contact Library staff for more information or to arrange delivery.

Storytime

All parents and carers with young children are invited to attend storytime 10:30-11:00 each Thursday as well as the last Saturday of each month. Activities include interactive stories and rhymes for pre-schoolers with a fun craft to follow. This is a FREE service. Keep up to date with Library storytime and other events at the Cobar Library Facebook.

New Item List

A list of all items newly added to the collection is printed, and distributed via email. This is a FREE service. If you wish to receive the list via email, please contact Library staff.

eBooks, Haynes Manuals, and Online Library

Borrowbox eBooks, eAudio and eMagazines are available 24/7 (to library members) via the Online Library service. Other online resources include Haynes auto manuals, State Library of NSW ebooks, access to Cobar Shire Library and TAFE Library Network catalogues, mobile language learning, and access to professional assistance with homework, assignments and study techniques. These are all FREE services (provided for Cobar Shire library members). Please contact Library staff if you have any questions regarding use of the Cobar online library services.

Art and Craft Space

The bright and airy Art and Craft Space is available for group and individual activities. Funky green and orange tables and chairs, and a fully functional wash-station, facilitate workshops, learning days and holiday art activities. The art and craft space is FREE for use by private individuals, community groups and most NGOs. A room hire fee is applied for use involving business or commercial purpose, or if individuals are running sessions for private gain. Art and craft supplies must be provided by the hirer. The room is available 7 days a week by arrangement with Cobar library staff. Please contact Library staff for more information or to make a booking. 

Local History Collection

The library holds a collection of items and publications of significance to Cobar’s local mining, social, railway and agricultural history. Items can be accessed and viewed on the library premises. Copying is available for the purposes of family history or private study. Donations of family histories, local memorabilia, or other items of local historical interest are welcome. Please contact Library staff for more information.

Events Calendar

A monthly calendar of library events and activities is printed, distributed via email, and posted on the Cobar Library Facebook. This is a FREE service. If you wish to receive notice of library events via email, please contact Library staff.

Community Meeting Room

A purpose-built Community Meeting Room is available for use by both groups and individuals. The room has been fitted out with flip tables as well as 25 chairs, enabling round-table meetings and group presentations. An internet-connected technology screen enables hosting of webinars, access for online study and interactions with remote tutors. The screen also operates as a platform for powerpoint presentations and whiteboard functions. The community meeting room is FREE for use by private individuals, community groups and most NGOs. A room hire fee is applied for use involving business or commercial purpose, or if individuals are hosting a function for private gain. The room is available 7 days a week by arrangement with Cobar library staff. Please contact Library staff for more information or to make a booking.

Library Art Gallery

Space is available in the library for hanging and display of art pieces by local and visiting artists. Most exhibitions are installed for blocks of three months. If you wish to exhibit or sell your artworks in the Library Art Gallery please contact Library staff.
